In Scouting it is critical for all mentors and leaders to know all the resources and the basic information on how to make Scouting a quality experience for the young people we serve.   There are many different trainings available online and in person.

Tom Kroen is one of the most experienced trainers in the Cascade Pacific Council.   He stands ready and willing to help leaders learn how to do Scouting.

Youth experience in the outdoor provides the canvas for personal growth.  To most, the outdoors is a foreign environment.   Through outdoor adventures youth develop confidence, leadership and advance their personal faith.  Each Scout should attend a council summer camp.  This will be a highlight in a Scout’s year.  Dale Peterson works to ensure that every unit is promoting and signing up the boys to attend camp each year.   He his happy to attend a meeting and explain the merits of camp.

One of the key methods of personal growth Scouting offers is providing an opportunity for boys to advance in rank.   The teaches personal responsibility and goal setting.   Recognition for the achievements also leads to self confidence.  At times it may be confusing how to evaluate the requirements or leaders run into special situations that require advice.   Paul Grun is the Wapiti District Advancement Chairman and also supports the Eagle process and Merit Badge counselors.

Advancement

Once a Scout reaches Life Rank, he now is in need of support to get his Eagle Rank.   He will need to develop an Eagle Project and have it approved by the Wapiti Distirct.  When he has completed all the steps he will need to turn in the paperwork and schedule a Eagle Board of Review.

Scott Young is the District Eagle Process Chairman for the Wapiti District.   Scott sets up shop each Tuesday night from 7pm-8:30pm at the Tigard United Methodist Church (Get Directions) to help Scouts be come Eagles
